Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 21, 2025  ·  Version 1.0

TL;DR — THE SHORT VERSION

Vault Guard stores everything locally inside your browser. Nothing is sent to any server. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking of any kind. The Overseer knows what you do, but he keeps it to himself.

1. Who We Are

Vault Guard is a Chrome browser extension developed by an individual developer. The extension is distributed via the Chrome Web Store. For any privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at hello@vaultguard.pro.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Vault Guard Chrome extension and the website vaultguard.pro.

2. What Data We Process

Vault Guard processes the following data, all of which is stored exclusively inside your browser using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API:

Data type What it contains Where it's stored Sent to servers?
Blocked sites list Domain names you've added to the block list Chrome local storage No
Category settings Content categories you've enabled blocking for Chrome local storage No
Schedule / Active Hours Days and times when blocking is active Chrome local storage No
Usage statistics Number of blocked attempts and overrides per site per hour — used to display your own stats dashboard Chrome local storage No
Extension preferences UI settings, selected Overseer character Chrome local storage No

We do not collect, transmit, store, or process any personal data on any external server. We have no database of users. We cannot see your blocked sites list, your usage statistics, or anything else you configure in the extension.

3. This Website (vaultguard.pro)

The vaultguard.pro website does not use cookies, analytics, or any tracking scripts. It is a static HTML page with no JavaScript that communicates with external servers.

The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect basic server access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) as part of normal web infrastructure operation. These logs are governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy. Vault Guard does not have access to these logs and does not use them for any purpose.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for any data processing is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — specifically, the interest of providing the core functionality of the extension you have chosen to install and use.

Since all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us, we are not acting as a data controller in the traditional sense. The data remains under your sole control at all times.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), if you are located in the EEA, you have the following rights:

Because we hold no personal data on our servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly by you within the extension, without needing to contact us.

6. Data Retention

All data persists in Chrome's storage until you delete it manually or uninstall the extension. Chrome may also sync this data across your devices if you are signed into Chrome with a Google account. This sync is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

7. Third Parties

Vault Guard does not share any data with any third parties. The extension does not include any third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, advertising networks, or tracking pixels.

External fonts (VT323 and Jura) are loaded from Google Fonts on this website. Google may collect standard web request data (IP address, browser type) when serving these fonts. See Google's Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this Privacy Policy in a way that affects your rights or the way your data is handled, we will:

We will never silently change data practices. You will always receive clear notice before any change takes effect.
